Thomas Riddick left Virginia for St. Louis in 1804 where he held several civil offices. In April 1807, he and his partner Alexander McNair purchased two bonds from expedition interpreter George Drouillard promising them ownership of the land grants to be given to privates Joseph Whitehouse and John Collins. For that bond, see October 8, 1806. [2]Letters of the Lewis and Clark Expedition with Related Documents: 1783–1854, ed. Donald Jackson (Urbana: University of Illinois Press, 1978), 3:44–45.
