Empty Arikara village

The expedition comes to an empty, but recently inhabited, Arikara village. They find bull boats, baskets, and a live garden. On the shore, Lewis observes several types of birds including the sharp-tailed grouse and black-billed magpie. On the river, the numerous channels make navigation difficult. Camp is near present Swan Creek in South Dakota.
